A compact tractor can have a big impact
Written by admin on September 18, 2009 – 12:11 am -A small tractor can have a big impact on your property when it comes time to mow grass, move dirt, plant trees, haul rocks, or lug bales of hay. Agricultural equipment on the road can be hazardous to both farmers and motorists, he noted. Most farm... more

Deere pushes to stay on top, despite some slowdowns
Written by admin on July 31, 2009 – 11:20 am -By DAN PILLER • dpiller@dmreg.com • July 26, 2009 Deere & Co. is so big that it can expand and contract at the same time. The company is cutting factory workers in Iowa - including temporarily closing its Ottumwa works - and shedding executive staff. At the same time, it has plans to expand in Russia and India. Deere also is upholding its long-standing reputation as the size leader in equipment, with the rollout of its newest implement: a 48-row planter that is the biggest in the world. Just four of the "Green Monsters," which Deere makes in conjunction with Bauer Built Manufacturing of Paton, have been made available to farmers before Deere begins marketing in earnest for the 2010 planting season. Vintage tractors will be put to the test during festival
Written by admin on July 25, 2009 – 12:29 am -By John Weiss, Post-Bulletin, Rochester MN PLAINVIEW -- Oh boy, do those guys in the old tractors know how to have a good time. To practice for the Aug. 15 Tractor Games at Plainview's Corn on the Cob Days, they competed to see who could push a barrel, which was partially filled with water, down Third Avenue Southwest in Plainview. They also competed to see who could drive the slowest and who could maneuver a chain into a square on the pavement. All the while, others laughed, encouraged and laughed some more. It's all because of a love of those old tractors. Tractor Games is new to the festival because the Greenwood Prairie Classic Iron Club is new to the area. It formed because those young and old just love those old tractors. "This is... more

Golden rule of buying used farm machinery
Written by admin on July 17, 2009 – 12:44 am -Greg Peterson F.A.C.T.'s Report When it comes to buying used farm equipment you're faced with two main issues: 1. What make/model should I buy? 2. What's it worth? So you spend time researching, talking with friends, shopping around and narrow things down to the particular make and model that is going to work best for you. Now comes the pressing issue - how much are you be willing to pay for it? Definitely easy to fixate on this point. No one wants to pay too much. But here is where I think some folks tend to miss the big picture. They focus on the money spent here and now versus future value. It could seem like I'm splitting hairs here, but I don't think I am. What I mean is this. Every used equipment purchase should be approached with much... more

Deere to build tractor factory in Russia
Written by admin on July 7, 2009 – 4:13 am -MOSCOW, July 6 (Reuters) - U.S. farm machinery maker Deere & Co. (DE.N) will start producing tractors in Russia within the next 5-7 years, Deere Chairman Samuel Allen said on Monday, ahead of the arrival of U.S. President Barack Obama for a summit. Russian President Dmitry Medvedev last month told a global agriculture summit that his government would devote financial resources to boost its position in world grain markets, creating potential opportunities for industry suppliers like Deere, the world's largest maker of farm equipment. "The investment into the Russian economy will allow us to increase our production and technological capacity which is also in line with the plans of the Russian government," Deere Co. said in a statement. The... more
