KIOTI Introduces New Value-Priced Tractors

Written by admin on February 13, 2010 – 10:09 pm -

With timing that’s perfect for these economic times, KIOTI Tractor has just announced two new mid-sized tractors designed and built for folks living in the country that don’t want or need to spend the money on all the bells and whistles that can be found on much more expensive machines. Don’t get me wrong, these new tractors are fully capable and heavy-duty machines. They just rely on well-proven and re-proven technology whose development has long been paid for. And the best part is that the company is passing the cost savings on to consumers. Based on the same field-proven chassis as the premium KIOTI line, the new DS4110 (41 horsepower; tractor only with ag tires has a MSRP of $17,750) and DS4510 (45 horsepower; tractor only, with ag... more

Used Farm Tractors Aid Sustainability

Written by admin on February 10, 2010 – 12:20 am -

By Drew Davidson Many small farmers are moving toward a more environmentally conscious model of agriculture. For the small farmer, this move comes with economic risks. By purchasing, fixing and maintaining used farm tractors, the farmer can mitigate his economic risk while creating a new way of sustainable agriculture on his own farm. Most small family farmers are self-taught experts in many fields. They have to be. For them, maintaining and fixing their own equipment is imperative to their economic survival. Therefore, most used farm tractors are in good shape or in easily fixable shape. As their needs change, farmers frequently sell their used equipment. Finding these tractors and other equipment is easy. Most farm bureaus, online farm community... more

Guessing the price on a unique tractor in an online auction

Written by admin on November 12, 2009 – 3:40 pm -

Greg Peterson Machinerypete.com Central Kentucky farmer Terry Waldridge could be fiddling a happy tune next Wednesday. Waldridge is the owner of a 1969 John Deere 4000 tractor up for sale on eBay currently. No big deal there, right? Lots of Deere tractors for sale on eBay as well as other websites. But Terry's Deere tractor is special. Turns out the 1969 JD 4000 he's owned for the last 15 or 16 years was the very first model 4000 ever made by Deere, serial number 211422. Waldridge, a native of the Blue Grass state who also happens to play in a bluegrass band, only recently discovered his 4000 was the first to roll off the Deere assembly line 40 years ago. "I paid $8,500 for it back when I bought it from a local machinery guy," said Waldridge.... more

A compact tractor can have a big impact

Written by admin on September 18, 2009 – 12:11 am -

A small tractor can have a big impact on your property when it comes time to mow grass, move dirt, plant trees, haul rocks, or lug bales of hay. Got a job to do? There's a compact tractor that can help you do it in comfort. The market for these small workhorses is growing rapidly. Subcompact, compact, and utility tractors represent approximately three-fourths of all tractors sold in North America today. The Association of Equipment Manufacturers report that sales of <40-PTO horsepower tractors increased each month from October 2004 to January 2005. Used compact tractor sales are up, as well, says Greg Peterson, owner of F.A.C.T's Report (800/381-0423 or www.machinerypete.com). "Auction sale prices on tractors more than 5 years old in this... more

How to calculate your tractor’s fuel efficiency

Written by admin on September 4, 2009 – 7:20 pm -

I posted this article several months ago and got alot of response so as harvest time approaches I have decided to post it again. Farm Industry News asked Nebraska Tractor Test Lab Director Roger Hoy and Assistant Director Dave Morgan what factors to use to compare the fuel efficiency of different tractors. You can use these parameters to determine how your models rank. 1. Go to http://tractortestlab.unl.edu. Click on “Test Reports.” The Web site shows all makes and models tested at the lab since 1999. (Hard-copy reports for tractors tested before 1999 are available for purchase. Contact Nebraska Tractor Test Laboratory, Box 830832, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Lincoln, NE 68583-0832, 402/472-2442, tractortestlab@unl.edu.) 2. Click on... more

Golden rule of buying used farm machinery

Written by admin on July 17, 2009 – 12:44 am -

Greg Peterson F.A.C.T.'s Report When it comes to buying used farm equipment you're faced with two main issues: 1. What make/model should I buy? 2. What's it worth? So you spend time researching, talking with friends, shopping around and narrow things down to the particular make and model that is going to work best for you. Now comes the pressing issue - how much are you be willing to pay for it? Definitely easy to fixate on this point. No one wants to pay too much. But here is where I think some folks tend to miss the big picture. They focus on the money spent here and now versus future value. It could seem like I'm splitting hairs here, but I don't think I am. What I mean is this. Every used equipment purchase should be approached with much... more

JOHN DEERE ADDS TWO LARGER MODELS TO ITS 1910 COMMODITY CART LINEUP

Written by admin on July 2, 2009 – 2:55 pm -

LENEXA, Kansas (June 15, 2009)— John Deere expands its lineup of 1910 Commodity Carts with the addition of two larger models — a two-tank 350-bushel, and a three-tank 430-bushel, tow-between configuration. These new models provide the increased capacity for customers to seed and fertilize a large number of acres in less time. In addition, the 80-bushel tank on the 430-bushel tow-between commodity cart can also be ordered liquid-fertilizer capable. "For grain producers concerned about compaction and productivity, these new tow-between carts address both issues. Our customers can seed and fertilize more acres in less time and make fewer stops to refill. This increases their productivity and seeding efficiency," says Aubrey Grove, project manager,... more
